What is Momentic?
Momentic (Y Combinator Winter 2024) is a testing tool that checks your app the way a person would. You describe a user flow and the expected result in plain English, Momentic saves it as a YAML file in your repository, and its AI clicks through the app in a real browser, Android emulator or iOS simulator. When a button moves or a label changes, auto-heal finds it again and proposes a fix for you to review.
There is a free plan with 2,000 credits a month, about 200 test runs, and a pay-as-you-go plan at $125 a month for 10,000 credits, with no per-seat charges. Momentic raised a $15M Series A led by Standard Capital in November 2025; customers include Notion, Webflow, Retool and Quora.
How much does Momentic cost?
| Plan | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Free | Free | 2,000 credits a month, 5 concurrent browsers, 1 mobile session |
| Pay as you go | $125/month | 10,000 credits, 25 concurrent browsers, 5 Android and 5 iOS sessions |
| Enterprise | Custom | SAML SSO, SCIM, audit logs, uptime SLA |
Free (2,000 credits/month, about 200 runs, 5 concurrent browsers); Pay as you go $125/month for 10,000 credits (about 1,000 runs, 25 browsers), overage $0.01875/credit or $125 top-up blocks; Enterprise custom. No seat charges.
Is Momentic worth it?
End-to-end tests are the ones everyone agrees matter and nobody wants to maintain. Rename a button and twenty Playwright scripts fail at once, and the release waits while someone fixes selectors.
Momentic lets you write the test as a sentence: sign in, add two items to the basket, check the total. Its AI works out what to click, and when the screen changes it finds the control again and suggests an edit to the test file. Tests live as YAML in your repository, so they get reviewed like code, and coding agents such as Claude Code or Cursor can write and run them through its MCP server.
The customer results it publishes are striking, though they are Momentic's own case studies: Quora's daily test time falling from 7 hours to 30 minutes, Retool releasing 8 times as often. The platform counter shows more than 70 million test runs. It is SOC 2 Type 2 certified on every plan, including Free.
The catch: the bill is in credits, and the AI features use a lot of them. A normal step costs 1 credit, a step the AI had to work out or recover costs 2, and optional failure triage costs 500 credits a run, a twentieth of the paid plan's monthly allowance. Mobile time burns 8 credits a minute on Android and 15 on iOS. Unused credits expire monthly, and overage costs more per credit than buying a block ahead.
Our take: for a team shipping a web app weekly without a QA engineer, $125 a month for about 1,000 runs is a modest price for knowing checkout still works before every merge; if you already have a stable Playwright suite, the case for switching is much weaker.
Where it earns its place
A five-engineer SaaS team with no QA hire
Block merges that break sign-up or checkout
Run the Momentic CLI in CI and use its exit code as a required check. The $125 plan's 10,000 credits cover about 1,000 standard runs a month; buying extra $125 blocks ahead is cheaper than paying overage.
A mobile lead at a consumer fintech app
Check the iOS and Android login flow before every release
Hosted emulators need no local SDK. A 5-minute iOS run uses 75 credits in simulator time alone, so 100 such runs take most of a month's paid allowance.
A developer using Claude Code
Have the coding agent write and run tests for the feature it just built
Connect Momentic's MCP server; editing tests in the editor is free, and only runs draw on credits.
Before you commit
- Setup
- Sign up free with no card, point Momentic at a staging URL, describe a flow in plain English, then add the CLI to your CI job.
- Integrations
- CLI for any CI system, an MCP server for Claude Code, Cursor and other agents, network request stubbing, and an Analytics API for results.
- Data and privacy
- SOC 2 Type 2 on all plans with reports in its trust centre; Google SSO included, SAML SSO, SCIM and audit logs on Enterprise. Testing private apps behind a firewall needs Enterprise.
- Cost at scale
- Each extra 10,000 credits costs $125 as a prepaid block or $187.50 as overage; a team running 3,000 standard runs a month should expect roughly $375 if it buys blocks in advance.
- Limits
- Free stops at 2,000 credits; 5 concurrent browsers on Free and 25 on pay as you go; mobile sessions capped at 15 minutes below Enterprise.
What's good
- Tests written in plain English, stored as YAML in your repo
- Auto-heal proposes fixes when the UI changes
- No per-seat charges
- Web, Android and iOS from one tool
- SOC 2 Type 2 on every plan; MCP for coding agents
What's not
- AI triage costs 500 credits per run
- iOS simulator time costs 15 credits a minute
- Unused credits expire every month
- Overage dearer than prepaid blocks
- SAML SSO and audit logs only on Enterprise
Best for
Small and mid-sized product teams without dedicated QA who want end-to-end coverage that survives UI changes.
