What it is
Fireflies.ai sends a notetaker bot into Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and other meeting tools, or records through a Chrome extension without a bot, and accepts file uploads. It produces transcripts, summaries and action items, and lets you search across all your meetings or ask questions with its assistant, AskFred. It also offers topic trackers, sentiment analysis, talk-time analytics and a GraphQL API. Transcription covers more than 100 languages.
Plans are priced per seat. The free plan includes 400 minutes of storage per team and 20 AI credits. Pro costs $10 per seat a month billed yearly ($18 monthly) with 8,000 minutes of storage per seat. Business costs $19 yearly ($29 monthly) with unlimited storage, video recording and team analytics. Enterprise is $39 per seat a month, yearly only.
Fireflies lists SOC 2 Type II, ISO 42001 and GDPR compliance. A HIPAA business associate agreement is available only on Enterprise with Private Storage.
Our review
Fireflies is built for teams that treat meetings as data, and its value rises with the number of calls someone needs to search later. Topic trackers, question detection, talk-time analytics and AskFred across months of transcripts give sales and customer teams more to work with than the note-first approach of Otter or Granola.
The list prices are low and the allowances are tight. Pro is $10 a seat on yearly billing and $18 monthly, an 80% premium for not committing; Business is $19 or $29. AI features draw on monthly credits, and Pro gets 20, Business 30 and Enterprise 50, so heavy AskFred use runs out quickly. The pricing table also caps a single recording at 2 hours on Pro and 3 on Business, which catches long workshops and board meetings.
Consent is the larger risk. The bot records everyone on the call, not just the account holder. Two proposed class actions filed in Illinois, in December 2025 and March 2026, allege that Fireflies' speaker recognition builds voiceprints of participants who never signed up, in breach of the state's biometric privacy law; both were at an early stage when last reported. The Chrome extension records without a visible bot, which makes it less intrusive but does nothing for the duty to tell people they are being recorded.
On paper the security story is solid: SOC 2 Type II, ISO 42001, a statement that meeting data is never used for AI training, and zero-retention terms with its AI vendors. The fine print is in the tiers. A HIPAA business associate agreement, and the FERPA agreement for schools, come only with Enterprise plus Private Storage, so a clinic on Business has the compliance badge on the marketing page but not the contract.
