What is Meta Muse?
Muse is Meta's personal AI agent, launched on 8 September 2026 in the US on iPhone, Android and muse.ai, and reachable inside WhatsApp. It books appointments, fills in online forms, sends email and buys things for you. It runs on Meta's Muse Spark models; CNBC reports that the paid plans give access to Meta's stronger Muse Wonder model, released on 12 October. Muse is for adults only: its supplemental terms bar anyone under 18. Meta's small-business post, updated in October, describes Muse as available in the US and Canada.
Each user gets a dedicated cloud machine, Muse Secure VM, and a second agent called Sentinel on the same machine must approve anything Muse sends to the internet. Muse pays through Stripe's Link, with Shop Pay listed as coming later. Since 29 September, Muse for Small Business can also connect Instagram professional accounts, Facebook Pages and Meta ad accounts, plus tools such as Shopify, QuickBooks, Slack and Stripe.
Muse is free with a usage limit Meta does not publish. Meta's help centre lists Power at $20 a month for 500 million Muse tokens a week and Maximum at $100 a month for 3 billion.
How much does Meta Muse cost?
| Plan | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Free | Free | Usage limit not published |
| Power | $20/month | 500M Muse tokens a week |
| Maximum | $100/month | 3B Muse tokens a week |
Free with an unpublished weekly usage limit; Power $20/month (500M Muse tokens a week); Maximum $100/month (3B Muse tokens a week). Plans renew monthly; same features on every tier.
Is Meta Muse worth it?
Booking a haircut, filling in a council form, finding the cheaper sofa: none of it is hard, and all of it takes twenty minutes you do not have.
Muse does those jobs from a chat in its own app or in WhatsApp, which you probably already have open. Unlike the other three agents in our comparison, you can start for free; Meta says the free tier covers "most of what people need", and the paid plans buy only more weekly usage, not extra features.
Its security design is the most ambitious on paper. Each person gets a separate cloud machine, and Meta says a second agent, Sentinel, kept apart from Muse at the system level, must approve anything Muse tries to send to the internet, asking you when no rule you have set already covers it. Muse never sees your actual passwords or payment details, according to Meta's AI chief Alexandr Wang. Meta also says Muse does not share your conversations or the data in your machine with its ad systems, and runs a paid bug-bounty programme on it. A version where only you hold the encryption key is promised for later this year.
The catch: read the terms. Your interactions train Meta's AI unless you opt out in Data Controls; Meta told CNBC it scrubs "critical personally identifying information" first. Meta may log, review and block what Muse does. Most of all, the supplemental terms make you "solely responsible" for Muse's actions, say you bear "all risk of financial loss", warn that some transactions are irreversible, and cap Meta's liability at $250 or what you paid in the last year, including for unauthorised actions by the agent. Meta has also not published the free tier's limit, so you find it when you hit it. NPR asked whether Muse is a killer app, a security nightmare or both, and reports that Amazon has blocked the agent from its site.
Our take: the engineering is better than the paperwork. Muse is a fine free assistant for bookings and errands, and a risky one to trust with a card that has no spending limit, because Meta has written the contract so that its mistakes are your bill.
Where it earns its place
A parent of three in Ohio
Book dentist appointments and fill in school forms from WhatsApp
Ask Muse in a WhatsApp chat; it fills in the form in its cloud browser and Sentinel asks you before anything is submitted. The free tier covers occasional errands like this.
A bakery owner running Instagram ads
See which posts and ads are paying off and draft the next campaign
Muse for Small Business connects Instagram professional analytics, Facebook Pages and the Meta ad account; Meta says nothing publishes, sends or spends without approval. Heavy weekly use may need Power at $20 a month.
A deal-hunting shopper
Watch for a price drop and buy when it hits
Muse pays through Link by Stripe. Because the terms put all financial risk on you, set transaction and category limits on the card first; Amazon is off limits to the agent.
Before you commit
- Setup
- Download the Muse app or go to muse.ai, sign in with a Meta account (Facebook, Instagram, email or phone), give a date of birth and add a payment card; you can also message Muse in WhatsApp, which lacks the app's feed and ideas features.
- Integrations
- WhatsApp, Link by Stripe for payments (Shop Pay later), and small-business connectors including Instagram, Facebook Pages, Meta ads, Asana, Box, Canva, Dropbox, Figma, Notion, Shopify, Slack, Stripe, QuickBooks and Zoom, plus custom connectors.
- Data and privacy
- Interactions are used to improve AI at Meta unless you opt out in Data Controls; Meta says conversations and VM data are not shared with its ad systems, and Meta may log and review Muse's actions. Which AI tools train on your data?
- Cost at scale
- Power is $20 a month for 500 million Muse tokens a week and Maximum $100 for 3 billion, six times the tokens for five times the price; Meta publishes no guide to how many tasks a token budget covers.
- Limits
- The free limit is unpublished; uptime is not guaranteed; some sites, including Amazon, block the agent; the user-held-key Confidential VM is not yet available.
What's good

- Free usage limit not published

- Amazon blocks the agent
Best for
US adults who want a free agent for everyday bookings and errands from WhatsApp, and who will opt out of training and set tight card limits.
