What is Awesome Claude Code Mods?
Awesome Claude Code Mods is a catalogue of Claude Code mods, the plugins that use JavaScript or TypeScript functions to change Claude Code's interface or behaviour on version 2.1.287 and later. A scheduled scan searches GitHub for mod repositories, runs claude plugin validate on each, and records what the validator reports it can access: drawing in the terminal, reading files, writing or running, or using the network.
The results feed a website with filters by access and topic and a downloadable Markdown catalogue, plus mod-finder, a plugin whose local MCP server lets Claude search the list. Six featured picks are chosen by the maintainer, Karan Bansal. It marks the 58 mods that also appear in Anthropic's plugin directory and is independent of Anthropic.
The list is CC0, created in September 2026, with about 829 stars. The last scan, on 29 October 2026, counted 6,780 mods.
Is Awesome Claude Code Mods worth it?
Most awesome lists are links with a sentence each. This one adds the question a careful user asks first: what will this code be able to do on my machine? Each of the 6,780 mods carries the access the validator reported, and the counts are sobering. In the 29 October scan, 3,628 mods write files or run processes, 743 use the network, and 215 have unknown access, against 538 that only draw on screen.
The scan has clear limits, and the README states them. Validation reads the source without running the mod, so it does not guarantee safe behaviour or that the mod works with your version. Discovery depends on GitHub search patterns, so new mods can be missing for a while. The access label is a starting point for reading the code, not a substitute for it.
Scale cuts both ways. Sorting by repository stars puts dozens of entries from one large framework at the top, which says more about that repository's popularity than about any single mod. The six hand-picked featured mods, with their token costs and terminal requirements noted, are the more useful entry point for most readers.
The mod-finder plugin is a sensible touch: a local MCP server that downloads the catalogue and gives Claude two read-only search tools. Compared with Anthropic's own plugin directory, which lists far fewer entries with official review, this is broader and less vetted; the two work best together, and the catalogue marks which mods are in both.
Where it earns its place
A developer who wants a context and cost meter in Claude Code
Find a status-line mod that does not touch the network
Filter the website by the usage-meter topic and the draws-only access level, then read the source of the two or three candidates. Free; the time saved is the hour of searching GitHub by hand.
A security engineer setting policy for a 30-developer team
Decide which community mods are allowed
Download the Markdown catalogue, start from mods marked as in Anthropic's directory or with draw-only access, and review the rest individually. The scan narrows the list but does not replace review.

Add the claude-code-mod topic to the repository; a scan usually picks it up within hours of the next push, and it appears once the update pull request merges.
Before you commit
- Setup
- Browse mods.aidojo.si, or install mod-finder with /plugin install mod-finder --marketplace karanb192/awesome-claude-code-mods and /reload-plugins. Needs Claude Code 2.1.287+ and Node 18+.
- Integrations
- Claude Code plugin validator, GitHub search, and Anthropic's plugin directory listing; mod-finder exposes two read-only MCP tools.
- Data and privacy
- The catalogue is CC0 public data. mod-finder downloads it from GitHub and caches it locally; the scan does not run any mod.
- Limits
- Validation is static and cannot detect runtime behaviour; discovery relies on GitHub search and topics; the last scan is 29 October 2026, and listings change only when update pull requests merge.
