What is Bang Motion?
Bang Motion is an Agent Skill, also packaged as a Claude Code plugin, that has a coding agent build motion graphics in the browser: product openers and promos of 15 to 40 seconds, SaaS demos, kinetic typography, bumpers and explainers of 30 to 120 seconds in 16:9 or 9:16. The output is a single index.html built on GSAP and, where needed, Three.js, which autoplays and loops; ?debug=1 adds a scrub bar, and optional scripts capture key frames or export MP4.
The skill works from menus rather than a fixed template: 10 style directions, 19 opener concepts and six explainer styles, each explainer with its own starter file. Before writing code the agent must return a style brief with three concept candidates, one recommendation and a palette in which every colour names its source. An optional bridge builds cartoon explainers inside After Effects through the Higgsfield MCP server.
It is by Bang Tutorial, an Indonesian YouTube channel, and MIT-licensed. The README is in English, but SKILL.md, the changelog and most reference files are in Indonesian. The repo was created on 5 September 2026; version 1.19.0 landed on 15 September 2026 and nothing has been merged since. It has about 1,365 stars and 170 forks.
Is Bang Motion worth it?
Bang Motion attacks the most common failure of agent-made video, the slide deck with fades, through process rather than polish. The agent may not write code until it has proposed three concepts from a menu of 19, picked one, stated a structure fingerprint that must differ from the previous project and derived a palette from the brand. The anti-slide rules are written so the agent can check them in its own code: no fading sections, a subject or world that persists, at most two text levels, varied transitions, and no text under 30 px on a 1,080-wide stage.
Its requirements are the lightest of the motion skills we have reviewed. Watching the result needs only a browser; Node, puppeteer and ffmpeg are optional, for frame checks and MP4 export. motionmaxxing, by contrast, needs Node 22, Python 3, ffmpeg and Chrome before it starts, and HyperFrames is a full renderer rather than a skill. The trade is evidence. motionmaxxing derived its eases from 4,288 measured professional moves and scores renders with scripts; Bang Motion's rules are one channel's taste, and verification is a set of key-frame screenshots the agent is asked to read. Diagram Design, by comparison, solves the same taste problem for static figures.
The weight is in the instructions. SKILL.md is about 39 KB, roughly 10,000 tokens at four characters to a token, and the eight reference files add about 184 KB more, the largest at 58 KB. No token or time cost per video is published. Because SKILL.md is written in Indonesian, an agent reads its rules in one language and talks to an English-speaking user in another, which works with current models but makes the rules harder for a non-Indonesian reader to audit.
Two practical caveats. The delivered index.html loads GSAP 3.12.5 and Three.js 0.161.0 from jsDelivr and fonts from Google, so it does not play offline and calls third-party servers on every view. And the project went quiet fast: the repo was created on 5 September 2026 and all three commits in its history are dated 15 September, a contributor's pull request adding Remotion as a second output has sat unmerged since 23 September, and the plugin manifest still promises five explainer styles where the README lists six.
Where it earns its place
A founder of a three-person app start-up preparing a launch post
Get a 20-second 9:16 promo without hiring a motion designer
Give the agent the logo, a few screenshots and the flat pop with photos style; approve the style brief, review with ?debug=1 and export MP4 with export-frames.mjs. The cost is agent tokens and an evening of feedback rounds.
A teacher who runs a science channel
Turn a voice-over into an animated explainer for children
Pick the cartoon collage style, send the recording, and let vo-pauses.html find the pauses in the browser so the timeline re-times to the narration. No ffmpeg needed; images can come from any image MCP the agent can call.
A frontend developer whose agent keeps producing animated slide decks
Give the agent rules that force a moving camera and a persistent scene
Install the plugin and point the agent at anti-ppt.md, which maps slide patterns to fixes. Start each video in a new chat, as the README advises, so earlier decisions do not leak into the next project.
Before you commit
- Setup
- In Claude Code, /plugin marketplace add bangtutorial/bang-motion then /plugin install bang-motion@bang-motion; for other agents, clone the repo into the skills folder or reference SKILL.md from AGENTS.md, GEMINI.md or .cursor/rules. Install one copy only, or the two conflict.
- Integrations
- Claude Code, Codex CLI, Gemini CLI and Cursor; GSAP and Three.js from jsDelivr; optional puppeteer and ffmpeg for snap.mjs and MP4 export; any image or video MCP for assets; After Effects through the Higgsfield MCP bridge.
- Data and privacy
- Runs locally and sends nothing itself. The finished page fetches GSAP, Three.js and Google Fonts on each view, and the optional serve.py binds to 127.0.0.1 on port 5178. Assets sent to an image or video MCP go to that provider. MIT licence; GSAP keeps its own licence.
- Cost at scale
- No paid tier. The cost is agent tokens, about 10,000 for SKILL.md before any reference file loads, plus any image or video generation; the project publishes no per-video figure.
- Limits
- Playback needs internet for the CDNs. Verification is screenshot review, not scripted scoring. The After Effects route covers cartoon explainers only. No commits since 15 September 2026, one open pull request and one open issue.
What’s good
- Style brief and three concepts required before any code
- Anti-slide rules the agent can check in its own output
- Plays from one index.html with only a browser; MP4 export optional
- Installs as a Claude Code plugin; manual steps for Codex, Gemini CLI and Cursor
What’s not
- Rules are taste, not measurement; checks are screenshots, not scripts
- SKILL.md and references written mainly in Indonesian
- Output loads GSAP, Three.js and fonts from CDNs, so no offline playback
- No commits since 15 September 2026; a Remotion pull request is unmerged
Best for
Developers and solo marketers who want an agent to produce varied web-native openers and explainers with minimal setup, and who can judge the motion by eye.
Bang Motion alternatives
Bang Motion: common questions
- Is Bang Motion worth it?
- Bang Motion gives an agent a menu of looks and structures that keeps its videos from resembling slide decks, but its rules are a designer's opinions rather than measurements, and the repo stopped moving in mid-September. We rate it 3.6 out of 5.
- How much does Bang Motion cost?
- Free under the MIT licence. Costs are agent tokens, plus any image or video MCP you choose to call for assets.
- What are the downsides of Bang Motion?
- Rules are taste, not measurement; checks are screenshots, not scripts; sKILL.md and references written mainly in Indonesian; output loads GSAP, Three.js and fonts from CDNs, so no offline playback; no commits since 15 September 2026; a Remotion pull request is unmerged.
- Who is Bang Motion best for?
- Developers and solo marketers who want an agent to produce varied web-native openers and explainers with minimal setup, and who can judge the motion by eye.
- How much does Bang Motion cost for a team or in production?
- No paid tier. The cost is agent tokens, about 10,000 for SKILL.md before any reference file loads, plus any image or video generation; the project publishes no per-video figure.
- Is Bang Motion safe for company data?
- Runs locally and sends nothing itself. The finished page fetches GSAP, Three.js and Google Fonts on each view, and the optional serve.py binds to 127.0.0.1 on port 5178. Assets sent to an image or video MCP go to that provider. MIT licence; GSAP keeps its own licence.
- What are the best Bang Motion alternatives?
- The closest alternatives we have reviewed are motionmaxxing, HyperFrames and OpenDesign.
