Attio is the CRM a startup will actually keep updated, but the jump from Plus to Pro at the eleventh seat is where the bill stops being startup-sized.

What it is

Attio is a customer relationship manager (CRM) built for modern startups. It syncs your email and calendar to build a contact and company database automatically, and you can shape it with custom objects (your own record types, such as investors or partners) and views that feel more like Notion or Airtable than Salesforce.

AI arrived in stages in 2026. According to Attio's changelog, Ask Attio, a chat assistant that answers questions about your CRM data, launched on February 4, an MCP server on February 19 and a rebuilt Workflows platform with AI agents on June 9. AI features draw on monthly credits per seat plus a shared workspace pool: 500 per seat and 1,500 shared on Plus, 1,000 per seat and 10,000 shared on Pro.

Plan limits matter as much as price: Plus allows 5 objects, 250,000 records and 10 seats, while Pro allows 12 objects, a million records and unlimited seats, and adds call recording and analysis (Call Intelligence) and email sequences.

Our review

Attio's real advantage is its data model. Custom objects, automatic enrichment from synced email and calendars, and views that behave like a spreadsheet let a venture fund, a marketplace or a two-sided sales motion model itself without an administrator. Founders and early sales teams on Reddit and X often describe it as the first CRM they did not have to nag people to use, which matters more than any feature list when the alternative is an empty Salesforce.

The plan limits shape the bill. Plus caps at 10 seats, 5 objects and 250,000 records, so the eleventh user, the sixth custom object or a large import moves the whole workspace to Pro at $79 a seat on annual billing, more than double Plus's $35. A 10-person team on Pro pays $9,480 a year; the same team on Plus pays $4,200. Call Intelligence, sequences, advanced permissions and invoice billing sit on Pro, and SAML single sign-on on Enterprise.

AI is metered rather than bundled. Ask Attio and agent steps in Workflows spend credits, and once the per-seat and shared pools run out, extra packs cost $70 a month for 5,000 on annual billing, up to $475 for 50,000. Attio's AI policy says it does not train on customer data and does not let providers do so, but names Google, OpenAI and Anthropic as model providers, uses their global endpoints, and reserves the right to switch providers under its DPA.

For engineers, the API is generous for a CRM at this price: 100 read and 25 write requests a second across the workspace, plus the MCP server for agents. Compliance is lighter on paper than rivals. Attio announced ISO 27001 certification in 2022 and states GDPR compliance, but its own pages did not show a SOC 2 report when we checked, which some US procurement teams will ask for before HubSpot's or Salesforce's paperwork is even opened.

Where it earns its place

  • A four-partner seed fund

Track deal flow, founders and co-investors without a CRM administrator

Custom objects for funds, companies and founders sit on Plus at $35 a seat on annual billing, $1,680 a year for four. Email and calendar sync fill relationship history automatically; the 5-object cap is the limit to watch.

  • A 15-person B2B SaaS sales team leaving HubSpot

Run pipeline, call recording and sequences in one place

Fifteen seats rule out Plus, so the team lands on Pro at $79 a seat, $14,220 a year on annual billing, which includes Call Intelligence, sequences and 10,000 shared AI credits. Migration help is a sales conversation.

  • A RevOps engineer wiring product usage into the CRM

Sync account activity from the warehouse every hour

A job upserts records through the REST API within its 25 writes per second limit, and agents query the CRM over the MCP server. Each record created through a reference counts as an extra write, so batch jobs need throttling.
