What it is
Bubble is a no-code platform for building web apps and, since 2025, native mobile apps. Its AI features sit on top of the visual editor: the Bubble AI Agent can plan an app with you, generate pages, a database, workflows and privacy rules, then make changes or fix issues on request. Everything it builds stays editable in the visual editor.
The free plan lets you build and test but not launch a live app. Billed yearly, Starter is $59 a month, Growth $209 (2 editors) and Team $549 (5 editors); Bubble says annual billing saves up to 20% and does not show monthly prices. Plans are bought per project, and usage is measured in workload units, a Bubble measure of server work, with 175K a month on Starter shared between the web and mobile apps.
On 4 August 2026 the AI Agent gained full native mobile editing, outside API connections, plugin installs and fixes for issues the app checker has flagged. It is still in beta and free to use.
Our review
Bubble's AI works differently from code-generating builders. The AI Agent builds inside Bubble's own visual editor, so what it produces is pages, data types, workflows and privacy rules that a non-coder can open and change. According to Bubble's September 2026 guide, it asks clarifying questions and drafts a plan before generating anything. For someone who has to maintain the app after launch, that is a real advantage over a repository of generated code they cannot read.
The Agent has moved quickly through 2026. It started building workflows in April, and the 4 August update added native mobile editing, API connections, plugin installs, reusable components and fixes for problems the issue checker flags. It remains beta and free, and Bubble has not said what it will cost, so budget as if it will not stay free.
Cost is the drawback, and workload is where it bites. Launching any live app requires at least Starter at $59 a month billed yearly, and each project needs its own plan. Web and mobile draw on one pool of workload units: 175K on Starter, 250K on Growth and 500K on Team. Overage rates are not on the pricing page, though Bubble emails at 75% and 100% of the allowance and lets you switch overages off.
On security, Bubble states SOC 2 Type II, annual penetration tests and AES-256 encryption at rest, but every plan below Enterprise runs in a single AWS West region; a dedicated instance and choice of region are Enterprise only. Reviewers note that there is no source-code export. A European company with data-residency rules therefore has to negotiate Enterprise before its first paying user, whatever the app's size.
Where it earns its place
A non-technical founder building a two-sided marketplace
Launch a web app with user roles, payments and a matching iOS app
The AI Agent drafts the data model, privacy rules and workflows, and the founder refines them in the editor. Starter at $708 a year covers the launch with 5 mobile builds a month; growth in traffic shows up as workload overages.
A three-person agency building client portals
Ship and maintain several apps with two editors each
Every client app is a separate project on its own plan, so Growth at $209 a month billed yearly applies per app. The agency gets 2 editors, 14 days of server logs and 10 custom branches per project.
An IT lead at a European healthcare provider
Replace a spreadsheet-based booking process with an internal app
Plans below Enterprise host data in AWS West only, so EU residency means Enterprise with a dedicated instance in a chosen region. SSO account provisioning and Bubble's GDPR data processing agreement are part of that conversation.
