What it is
Superhuman Mail is a premium email client that works on top of Gmail and Outlook accounts. It is built for speed: nearly everything has a keyboard shortcut, and it adds split inboxes, reminders, scheduled sending, read status and sharing your availability. Its AI writes and edits emails, sorts messages with automatic labels, and on the Business plan drafts replies for you in advance (Auto Drafts) and answers questions about your inbox (Ask AI).
In October 2025 Grammarly renamed itself Superhuman, and Superhuman Mail now sits in a suite with Grammarly, Coda docs and an AI assistant called Superhuman Go. Mail is still sold on its own.
According to the plans page, Starter costs $25 per member a month and Business $33 when billed yearly; the help centre lists $30 and $40 month to month. Both plans stop at 25 seats. Business adds Auto Drafts, Ask AI, custom auto labels, the Mail MCP server and HubSpot and Salesforce integration. Enterprise adds SSO, SCIM provisioning, bring-your-own-key encryption and audit logs at a custom price.
Our review
Superhuman Mail is a fast client for people whose work happens in email, and its price only makes sense for them. Its reputation rests on keyboard-first triage and split inboxes, and users who handle hundreds of messages a day report real time saved. The AI features that matter most, Auto Drafts (replies prepared before you open a thread) and Ask AI (plain-language questions about old mail), sit on Business, not Starter.
The arithmetic is blunt. Business costs $40 a month paid monthly, or $396 a year, per person. Google and Microsoft now bundle drafting and summaries into Workspace and Microsoft 365 through Gemini and Copilot, so what Superhuman adds is speed and polish rather than AI that is otherwise missing. A ten-person sales team on Business pays $3,960 a year before any discount.
Teams should read the plan limits closely. Starter and Business stop at 25 seats, and SSO, SCIM provisioning, audit logs and bring-your-own-key encryption are Enterprise only, at a price Superhuman does not publish. A 30-person company with an identity-provider requirement therefore goes straight into a sales conversation. Superhuman says it is SOC 2 Type 2 certified and GDPR compliant, and that your data is never used to train external AI models; the page is silent on its own models.
Business also includes a Mail MCP server that lets Claude or ChatGPT reach into the inbox. It is a genuinely useful bridge for people who already work in those assistants, and it is one more connection to customer mail that a security team will want to approve before anyone switches it on.
Where it earns its place
A seed-stage founder handling investor, hiring and customer email in Gmail
Clear 200 emails a day without losing threads
Split inboxes separate investors from candidates, and Auto Drafts prepares replies to check and send. Business at $396 a year is the relevant plan, since Starter lacks Auto Drafts and Ask AI.
A 12-rep B2B sales team on HubSpot
Sync email with the CRM and see when prospects open messages
Business connects to HubSpot or Salesforce and shows Recent Opens. Twelve seats at $396 a year come to $4,752, against nothing extra for the Gemini or Copilot drafting the team may already have.
An IT lead at a 40-person investment firm on Microsoft 365
Approve an email client without breaking identity and audit rules
Forty seats is over the 25-seat cap for Business, and SSO, SCIM, audit logs and bring-your-own-key encryption are Enterprise only, so the review starts with a quote. The SOC 2 Type 2 report is requested through Superhuman's trust centre.
