What it is
Adobe Podcast is a web app best known for Enhance Speech. You upload a voice recording and it strips background noise and echo so it sounds as if it was recorded in a treated room. It also has Mic Check, which analyses your microphone setup, and Studio, a browser recorder and transcript-based editor that Adobe still labels beta.
The free plan enhances audio files up to 30 minutes and 500 MB, with a cap of one hour a day. Premium, which comes with Adobe Express Premium, raises that to four hours a day with files up to two hours and 1 GB, and adds video files, bulk upload, an enhancement strength control and speaker-separated downloads from Studio.
Our review
Enhance Speech is the reason Adobe Podcast exists, and it does one job very well. Laptop-mic and echoey-room recordings come back sounding close to studio audio, according to most reviews, with no audio skill required. The free plan's limits, files up to 30 minutes and one hour of processing a day, comfortably cover a weekly interview show split into halves.
The weakness is control. At full strength voices can sound processed, with a slightly synthetic sheen, and the free plan has no way to turn it down. Premium's strength slider fixes most of that, which makes the $9.99 a month less about extra hours than about getting a natural result. Audio engineers who need to repair clicks, hum or a single bad word will still want iZotope RX or Adobe Audition.
Studio is the weaker half. Free accounts can download only two Studio projects a day, each up to 30 minutes, and cannot download the original per-speaker recordings. Descript does far more for transcript editing, video and clips, so Adobe Podcast is best treated as a cleanup step before another editor.
The gaps are for teams and developers. Adobe publishes no API for Enhance Speech, no batch tool beyond Premium's bulk upload, and nothing on the Podcast pages about how long uploaded audio is kept. A production company processing sensitive interviews has to go to Adobe's general terms for that answer.
Where it earns its place
A teacher recording weekly lecture audio on a laptop mic
Remove classroom echo before posting to the course site
Upload each 25-minute file to Enhance Speech on the free plan; one hour a day is enough for two lectures, and no software install is needed on school machines.
A two-host interview podcast recording remotely
Get consistent, clean audio from guests with poor mics
Premium at $9.99 a month allows four hours a day, bulk uploads of each track and a strength slider to keep voices natural; edit afterwards in Descript or a DAW.
A video producer at a small agency
Clean dialogue on client video shot without a sound recordist
Premium accepts MP4 and MOV files up to 2 hours and 1 GB, so footage can be enhanced without extracting audio first. For whole-episode workflows Descript covers more.
