Our rating

4.1/5

A spreadsheet analyst for people without one, priced fairly for one person, though sharing it with a team moves the bill from $45 to $450 a month.

What it is

Julius AI is a data analysis assistant for people who do not write code. You upload a spreadsheet or CSV, or connect a database, and ask questions like "which products grew fastest last quarter?" Julius writes and runs Python or SQL behind the scenes and returns charts, tables and explanations. You can see and edit the code it used.

It also offers notebooks for repeatable analyses, scheduled runs, browser agents and a Slack agent. The pricing page's comparison table lists Postgres, Snowflake and BigQuery connectors from the $20 Plus plan upwards; the $450-a-month Business plan removes the table limit on data connections and adds teammates. Paid plans can use frontier models such as GPT-6.1 Sol and Claude Opus 5.5.

Julius has moved from monthly message limits to credits and renamed its plans more than once. The $20 plan is now Plus; Pro is a separate $45 tier with more credits and memory, with Max ($200) and Ultra ($500) as larger credit options on the same tier.

Our review

Julius fills a clear gap. Marketers, founders and finance staff often have a spreadsheet and a question but no analyst. Julius returns a chart and an answer in minutes and shows the Python or SQL it ran, so a technical colleague can check the working instead of trusting the picture.

ChatGPT and Claude analyse uploaded files too, so the question is what Julius adds. Its answer is a workspace built for data: notebooks, scheduled reports, browser agents and more memory, with Plus at 16 GB of RAM and Pro at 32 GB for larger files. If you analyse a file now and then, a chatbot you already pay for is probably enough.

The plan ladder has one steep step. The comparison table lists Postgres, Snowflake and BigQuery connectors from Plus, but inviting teammates and lifting the table limit on data connections requires Business at $450 a month ($375 yearly), ten times the Pro price, and every plan below Enterprise keeps uploaded files for only seven days. Julius has renamed plans and moved credit allowances often, and its pricing page blocks automated reading, so confirm the numbers at checkout.

The security story is better than the consumer pricing suggests. Julius says it never trains models on customer data and binds its AI providers to the same, stores files in the US, and holds SOC 2 Type II and TX-RAMP; SSO, audit logging and finer role controls are Enterprise features. One Julius page calls it GDPR compliant while another says it is still working towards compliance.

Like any AI analyst, Julius can be confidently wrong on messy data or vague questions, which is why the visible code matters more than the charts. Data teams with SQL skills and a warehouse will want the version control and collaboration of a notebook tool such as Hex rather than a chat window.

Where it earns its place

  • A founder at a 15-person e-commerce business

Work out which products and channels drove last quarter's growth from Shopify and ad exports

Upload the CSVs on Pro ($45, or $37 yearly) and ask in plain English; Julius charts the answer and shows its Python. Check the code before the numbers go into a board pack.

  • A finance analyst at a mid-sized charity

Produce the same monthly donor report without rebuilding it each time

Save the analysis as a notebook and schedule it. Plus at $20 covers 2,000 credits a month, but files are stored for only seven days on every plan below Enterprise, so keep the source data where the schedule can reach it.

  • An analytics lead at a 50-person startup on Snowflake

Let account managers query the warehouse without filing tickets

Snowflake, BigQuery and Postgres connectors appear from Plus, but Business at $450 a month ($375 yearly) adds teammate invites for up to 50 members, no table limit on data connections and 60,000 credits. Julius queries only what is requested and does not store connected data permanently; SSO and audit logs need Enterprise.

Before you commit

Setup
Sign up, upload a CSV or spreadsheet and ask a question; the first chart takes minutes. Teammates and uncapped data connections need Business.
Integrations
File uploads, Slack agent, Google Drive on Free and Postgres, Snowflake, BigQuery and other connectors from Plus; Python and SQL visible and editable.
Data and privacy
Julius says it never trains on customer data and its model providers are contractually bound the same way; files stored in the US; SOC 2 Type II and TX-RAMP; SSO and audit logging on Enterprise.
Cost at scale
Five analysts on Pro pay $225 a month; a shared workspace means one Business plan at $450 a month instead, with 60,000 shared credits.
Limits
Credits per task vary with compute and are not listed per action; Free runs on daily credits; files are kept for 7 days below Enterprise.

What's good

  • Very low learning curve for non-technical users
  • Shows the Python or SQL it ran
  • Never trains on customer data; SOC 2 Type II
  • Notebooks, scheduled runs and browser agents from Pro
  • Warehouse connectors from the $20 Plus plan

What's not

  • Teammates and uncapped data connections need the $450/month Business plan
  • Files kept for only 7 days below Enterprise
  • Credit costs per task are hard to predict
  • Plans, names and GDPR claims inconsistent across Julius's own pages

Best for

Non-technical professionals and students who want quick charts and answers from spreadsheets, rather than teams querying a live warehouse.
